I have been trying to learn by myself. No instructors anywhere around. I can get the forms down just fine but I need to learn the applications of the forms. How can I learn this?

    [Reply]

    Jin Reply:

get a partner and touch hands with as many people as possible. you can also make or build a wooden dummy to also practice pieces of the form.

I saw many ucc your site; especially ringfight in standing.

i have three question!! pleaze answer me!~~~!! i’m a korean and i learned wingchun 3 years in korea about 7years ago, as i middleschool student. anyway i question. First is that is this touch really available in ring? for example ufc, pride, and so on… I saw many rea fight in the street, and ufc play!! but touch is doesn’t matter. punch rush is endless. My think is that if i touch anybody, he punch endless me. You told about touch is mean my range. I agree that. But in UFC, player punches endlesss while another player touch him!! So I question this touch really effectiveness in ring and street. And their punch not straight, but hook, uppercut, anything that they can do. players punch in situation that they beated. So i ask for you that you upload ucc spared with partner in ring or anywhere. Important thing is that not promised situation but real situation, you understand me??
I learned wing chun 3years, so i proud of wingchun. But i not selfconfidence do it anywhere, anysituation. So I hope that see wingchun is really used. Also I ask for you that most ucc you upload is defensible. So I hope see that you do containment offensive. In other words, you hit the person first used wingchun and make your pace. Not counterattack. Your upload ucc is almost counterattack. Parring or touch partner’s punch and kick used chisau, and so on.

I’m sorry that i have little english skill, But you understand what i tell you almost. And i worry about that i questin make you upset, But I really wondered. Please answer me and upload ucc for many people. Pleaze~~~!!^^

Not used but using. I say that you use chisau.

why would i get upset? it’s a good question. chi sau is very important “in the ring” or “in the street”. the problem is that it takes such a long time to develop the skill to use it, and most people don’t have that kind of patience. “sensitivity” training is either 100% or nothing, there is no in-between. but that’s what lots of wing chun practitioners do, they learn a little “sensitivity” but then can’t use it in sparring and give it up. keep watching the tutorial and we’ll get into more and more sparring. peace!

Thank’s a lot Jin Young. I really respect you. You are different from any wingchun superior. Maybe the reason is that you did Shooto, just my think. And Your Shooto experience make you do variencely play with Wingchun. Just my think of that. Not conventionally, logitically but realistic, variatilly. It is a point that you different from any others can wingchun. I really appreciate you and respect you. You answer me from ucc. You solved my problem about wingchun a little. But I have questions still. I question you. You have experience which did a wingchun in the street or in the ring as you Shooto boxer or street fighter(?)- You fight in the street. I not intend make you killer or and so on… Anyway I wondered you have experience that did wingchun in Shooto play. Not practiced sparring but real fight or real shooto play. Maybe it did, i would see it?? If it remain as a ucc.

Have a good luck, and Peace!!!!^^
    Thank’s a lot Jin Young.

When i used to compete in Shooto, we didn’t have Youtube or the internet! lol..so i don’t have any video of my competitions. But don’t worry, we’ll be getting into more and more sparring in the future, and i’ll get videos of sparring sessions along the way. peace!

Thank you for everything! I really love the concepts and detailed explanations. Will you be showing any certain applications for techniques, such as live combat or certain scenarios? I have learned a bit of that from other online instructors but i was just looking for some of YOUR techniques. I try to take what works for me from everything i learn and compile it. All of the information i learn adds to my arsenal. Please if it’s not too much trouble, can you upload some application videos in the future? I’m sure there are many others who wish to see more of your skill!

    Thank you!

hey Brandon, if you are referring to “sparring” videos, yes, we will be getting into that and now that amateur MMA matches are sanctioned here in California, we will also be testing in those matches in the future as well.

    Brandon Reply:

Sounds awesome! I’m looking forward to seeing you in matches but I wasn’t only referring to that. I know you guys can fight; I was thinking more of like a certain technique to counter an uppercut, jab, right hook, etc, or videos like master wong’s on youtube where he goes through trapping and certain follow-ups after blocks. I train at a Kung Fu studio and when we spar I try to apply some wing-chun but it’s hard for me to execute on experienced fighters. Sometimes I can get good shots but it’s not totally domination when i have my opponents hands underneath mine trapped. The people I spar with are adults when I’m only 15, so they are a little bit stronger.

btw what’s minimum age requirement for an MMA match? I would like to gain some experience in the ring when I come of age. My ground game is pretty phenomenal and I also am experienced in many other aspects of martial arts.

and sorry i forgot to ask if you could give me a link to a website.

O and if you do I have a suggestion of creating a (Wing Chun – Application) (or whatever else you wish to title it) category on the right.

    HI Jin,
Im from the UK your training videos are great. I have a couple of questions on chi sau for you.
First You say that when doign bong tan fuk you should apply forward pressure. If you are moving forward for the tan sau and bong sau positions does that mean that inbetween you have to pull them back so you can then go forward?
Second i find my tan sau is very weak in chi sau and my oponent easily pushes it sideways so if is never vertical. How would you suggest improving the tan sau and making it stronger and more vertical?
    Thanks!

Hello, my name is Michael and I’m from Poland. I just want to thank you for what you are doing for people around the world. You have a great influence on me through the way you show, teach Wing Chun. I am willing to learn wing chun from your videos as in Poland there is only one (maybe two) instructors far away from where I live. I practised some Krav Maga but there is no beauty in this Martial “Art”. Wing Chung is way different and everytime when I do Siu Nim Tau which I learned from your video, I feel better, even when there are some sad thoughts in my head lately, I find a hope and peace (maybe it sounds like an old “over-praying” boasting lady in church or else but it’s not like that : D I really feel some sort of power. )

    Thank you once again.

    Michael.
